These collaborations help ensure a bright and exciting future for UQ Sport, and will also help us achieve our vision of communities built on active mind and healthy bodies.

Our founding sports clubs – including athletics, rowing, cricket, rugby, tennis and women’s hockey – consistently achieve high levels of success in the sporting community, and have produced many elite athletes that have represented Queensland and the University of Queensland at national and international levels and forged lifelong friendships.

Australian Sports Commission

The Australian Sports Commission (ASC) is the Australian Government body that manages, develops and invests in sport at all levels.

The University of Queensland and UQ Sport support elite student athletes whilst undertaking study. The University and UQ Sport aim to encourage elite student athletes to engage in study to prepare for a life after sport and their career goals, whilst still training and competing at an elite level.

This network seeks to highlight the specific requirements of the elite student athlete and the need to create a supportive environment that is conducive to the achievement of academic and sporting excellence.

Australian University Sport (AUS)

Australian University Sport is based in Brisbane and is a peak governing body of university sport in Australia – representing more than one million students.

UQ Sport is affiliated with Australian University Sport to provide UQ students with the opportunity to represent the University of Queensland at regional, national and international sporting competitions.

Queensland Health

The Home and Community Care (HACC) Program funds basic maintenance and support services to help frail older people and younger people with disabilities to continue living in their community.

UQ Sport in partnership with HACC are developing a service model to provide at-home physical activity services to support frail and pre-frail individuals in the north Brisbane area and utilising Medicare Plus for Exercise Physiology services.

UQ Faculty of Health Sciences

UQ Sport has forged a strategic partnership with the Faculty to develop synergies in the health and education industries. UQ Sport is currently delivering a range of physical activity programs designed to combat chronic disease and the partnership ensures that evidence-based practice underpins program design and delivery.
